Reading Support
This year I have moved from teaching both Kindergarten and Reading to providing reading support for elementary children. I am continuing as the Reading Intervention teacher and have added working with a few older elementary children to my teaching responsibilities.
Reading Intervention - As the Reading Intervention I provide additional guided reading instruction to those first and second graders who are acquiring literacy skills more gradually. I am provide instruction in addition to the direct instruction they receive from their classroom teacher to accelerate literacy development. I meet with my students everyday for thirty minutes. The times vary each day and are based on a weekly schedule. You are welcome to stop by to observe a lesson but be sure to check with me ahead of time if you wish to observe your child since their reading time changes daily. (email or phone contact work best)
System 44/ READ 180
I am working with third and fourth grade students who have shown the need for support using phonemic analysis and who are having some difficulty comprehending what they read. They are receiving a daily one hour lesson that consists of large and small group instruction focused on their specific needs, quiet reading and computer delivered instruction.
